Back to Banjul - 17-01-2010

After severall days in the inland we tought we also diserved a typical turistic relaxing day at the beach!

While some of us were looking for some activity!...

Others prefered just to RELAX!

This photo represents a very common situation in The Gambia. Women travelling alone and meeting their local "boyfriends" (just for that week of corse!).

Bitang Bolong Lodge II - 17-01-2010

Bitang Bolong has very nice river views but... doesn't have particularly very good rooms...
These were our "suites"! They had a shower device, a lamp in the top... but nothing really worked! :) When we've asked for the shower...

NO problem! He ran and brought a jerry can full of water! (the yellow one in the photo!) :)

and for the lamp... didn't worked but he gave us an alternative solution! In The Gambia style! :D

This was the mosque just outside of the lodge.
So... at 6 a.m. it was the best time to call (very loudly) the faithful to go for the first praying of the day!... aahhhhhhhhhhrrr I prefer the cock singing in the morning! ;)

Tendaba Camp II - 15-01-2010

Tendaba Camp - 15-01-2010

Tendaba Camp!

A paradise for... BIRD WATCHERS!! (a kind of human specie that spends hours and hours looking to the sky or trees and smile when they catch a bird on their fancy (and expensive) camera lents or binoculous! The conversations we were able to listen were simply hirarious! We even made some conversation with them and pretend to be bird watcher beginners!... :)

Our suites! Here we finally had one room for each of us! (because it was the same price..)

Farafeni - crossing the river to the South again - 15-01-2010

On one of the many military check points we've been asked to give a lift to a military, to the South part of the river (to Soma). So, we did it! And it was great, because he took us to the beginning of the line, in front of all the trucks! yeah yeah... we know... not a preety thing to be proud of... but really helped us to cross the river in less than 1 hour (otherwise it could take us severall loooong hours!...). He also invited us to the military bunker and we were chating with the other militaries for a while. This photo was taken outside the bunker.

On the ferry... Jorge & some friends! :)

Local fisherman.

They plan to asfalt the road but it could take severall years! We really apreciated the fact we rented a jeep, instead of a regular car! :)

On our way to Tendaba Camp - 15-01-2009

Butcher, a meat store.. at open air! :)

Are you feeling sick?!?! This bus has solutions for almost everything! :D

Kerrgallo Kids (orphanage) - 14-01-2009

This is where the kids learn Qur'an and some discipline.

Gustavo (Ahmed) teaching the kids how to maintain their garden.

Kids in The Gambia. They always wave when we pass. :)

Kerrgallo kids in the orphanage.

The well is always in the center of every village and going for water is a very common ritual for everybody. Here in Kerrgallo they will need to buid one other as this one is not working properly.
